There are easily a thousand foundation formulas out there – each one claiming to last days on end, make your pores disappear, and make you feel like you stepped off a cloud. Seriously though, there are a lot of foundations, and sometimes it’s hard to find one that’s perfect for you because most of them make similar claims – and sadly, not all of those claims pass our rigorous testing!
A new foundation lands on our desk at least every week, so imagine how happy we were when a couple of months ago, one appeared that ticked all the boxes! It’s so good that the new Dior Forever Foundation, $52, has become a go-to on our beauty counter ever since. The new Dior Forever formula comes in two finishes: Dior Forever, a velvety matte and Dior Forever Skin Glow, a long-wearing radiant, dewy finish (24 shades). The matte version, Dior Forever, is our go-to.
Here’s our full review of the Dior Forever 24h* Wear Radiant Perfection Skin-Caring Foundation:
What it is: A hydrating medium to full-coverage foundation that gives a matte velvet finish that remains flawless for 24 hours (we tested about 18 hours!). The formula also protects against sun damage with SPF 35 and PA+++ protection.
What it does: Formulated with pansy extract, the foundation protects the skin from drying while rose hip extract fights against damaging free radicals and helps tighten the appearance of pores. It’s designed to actually help improve the appearance of skin as you wear it.
The shades: There are 28 shades that go from very fair to rich, but as this is not a super full coverage foundation, one shade will work for more than one skin tone.
What we liked: We love that this gives amazing coverage but looks like skin. It’s not super full coverage, but it does help hide blemishes and pigmentation without looking cakey – it’s probably one of the most natural-looking foundations we’ve ever tried!
Application: The formula blends like an absolute dream – with fingers, a blender or a brush.
- For maximum coverage use a stippling brush or densely-packed foundation brush, then finish with a damp beauty sponge. Use a concealer to target any problem areas and blend again with a sponge.
- If you’re looking for the most natural coverage, apply with fingers and use a damp beauty sponge to blend.
The finish: The foundation is like a luminous matte, so it really does look like skin. We like to set ours with a light dusting of powder on our T-zone to keep it locked in place.
The wear: We have not been this impress
